Job Description

Project Manager - Engineered Products Worthington Products, Inc. — East Canton, Ohio | Full-time, on-site 401(k) match, health insurance, and paid time off The Job in Short Sales wins the job.
You own everything after that:
engineering, purchasing, fabrication, shipping, installation, billing, and closeout. When a project succeeds, it's because you kept it on track. When something goes wrong, you're the one who sees it first and fixes it. Worthington Products designs and builds heavy-duty floating barrier systems for dams, hydropower plants, reservoirs, and waterways around the world. Every project is built to order, with custom engineering, multiple suppliers, international shipping, and field installation. You'll run 7-14 projects at once. They range from $100K to over $1M and last from 4 weeks to more than 5 months, and each one has its own customer, location, deadline, and set of problems.
That takes real organization:
knowing where every project stands without digging for it, and keeping all of them moving at the same time. You'll report directly to the CEO and work closely with our Sales team and our Sales and Project Coordinators. What Curveballs Look Like Here Plans change constantly in this business. A supplier pushes a critical component two weeks before shipment. A customer revises a requirement after drawings are approved. Two projects need the same shop time in the same week. A shipment gets held up at customs. You won't always see these coming. Your job is to figure out the impact quickly, decide what to do, and tell everyone affected before they hear it from someone else. Decisions You Own You have the authority to reject or reprice scope changes. You don't need permission to do your job. You escalate to the CEO when a decision affects a key customer relationship / company priorities. What You're Responsible For Owning the project, start to finish Turn each signed order into a clear plan covering scope, deliverables, schedule, budget, and who owns each piece. Lead the project through engineering, purchasing, fabrication, shipping, installation support, final billing, and closeout. Direct the work of Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, and Accounting, along with outside suppliers, freight partners, and installation contractors. None of them report to you, but all of them look to you for direction. Staying ahead of problems Know the status, risks, and next deadline for every active project at all times. Spot problems early and act on them before they reach the customer. Balance competing priorities when projects need the same people, materials, or shop time. Protecting the job Review contracts, drawings, and specifications so you know exactly what was promised.
Manage scope changes:
document them, price them with Sales, and get approval before work begins. Track cost against budget and protect margin. Say no when a request from a customer, Sales, or anyone else puts the schedule, budget, or quality at risk, and offer an alternative that works. Leading the customer relationship Serve as the customer's main point of contact from contract through closeout. Give clear, regular updates, especially when the news isn't good. Keep the CEO and Sales informed on project status, risks, and the health of the whole portfolio. Supporting growth Work with Sales on quotes and proposals to confirm that scope, lead times, and pricing are realistic before we commit. Find opportunities for repeat and follow-on work with current customers. Feed lessons from completed projects back into future quotes and processes. Required Qualifications 7-10+ years of project management experience, including managing several customer projects at the same time. Experience at a manufacturer, equipment supplier, or similar business that builds and delivers products to customers. Experience working with a sales team on quotes, proposals, purchase orders, and customer commitments. Strong working skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project. Ability to read and work from drawings, specifications, and contracts. Excellent written and verbal communication. A valid passport. Some international travel may be required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with engineer-to-order or custom fabricated products. Experience in hydropower, dams, water infrastructure, or heavy industrial equipment. Experience with international shipping and export. PMP certification. Business development experience, or a clear interest in growing into a more client-facing, revenue-generating role. You'll Do Well Here If You keep track of a lot of details at once and don't let things slip. You stay calm when plans change and focus on the fix, not the blame. You make decisions with incomplete information and stand behind them. You'll tell a customer, a salesperson, or your boss something they don't want to hear. You finish what you start. Probably Not the Right Fit If your project experience is mainly managing construction sites, crews, or general contracting, this role likely isn't a match. We're looking for someone who has managed customer projects from the supplier side, working closely with sales. What You Don't Need You don't need an engineering degree, prior dam or hydropower experience, or a college degree. We'll teach you Worthington. Work Environment & Travel This is a full-time, on-site role in East Canton, Ohio. Expect occasional customer meetings and site visits, which may include international travel. Worthington Products is an equal opportunity employer.
