Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly skilled Fabrication Engineer to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing fabrication processes to enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will bring a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing engineering principles, including plastics injection molding, robotics, industrial automation, and process improvement methodologies.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for designs that support overhead conveyors and manufacturing support for the shop floor. Manufacturing support consist of laser programming, shop work instructions, fixture design, QC checks, and CNC programming. Develop and refine fabrication processes, including plastics injection molding, welding, tooling, and assembly line operations to meet production goals. Utilize CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Creo to design schematics, tooling layouts, and fabrication fixtures. Program and troubleshoot industrial robots and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to automate manufacturing tasks. Conduct root cause analysis on process deviations or quality issues and implement corrective actions. Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean management and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize manufacturing workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including design engineers, quality assurance, and production staff—to ensure seamless integration of fabrication processes. Analyze engineering data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or defects and develop strategies for process enhancement. Oversee industrial equipment maintenance and upgrades to ensure operational reliability. Implement vision inspection systems and other advanced industrial automation tools for quality control. Develop detailed schematics and technical documentation for fabrication processes and equipment. Ensure compliance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards and safety regulations. Traveling is about 30% (1-2 weeks at a time until past summer).
Qualifications:
Proven experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering roles within a factory setting specializing in fabrication or assembly operations. Extensive knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo for designing schematics and tooling. Associate or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent with 1-5 years' experience. Manufacturing background required. Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Basic understanding of statics, dynamics, machine design, and materials a plus. Must be able to understand mechanical drawings. Technical writing and typing skills. Mathematical and mechanical aptitude. Ability to visualize concepts and be attentive to detail. Self-motivated and multi-task oriented, with a strong work ethic. Basic shop skills are a plus. •
