Job Description

Overview Burkhardt is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager or Project Team Leader to join our civil engineering and site development team. Project Team Leaders are responsible for leading a team of civil engineers, designers, and other technical staff to successfully plan, execute, and deliver high-quality projects while ensuring client satisfaction and project success. This is a client and public facing role that includes preparing proposals and negotiating fees, ensuring quality control, managing subconsultants, invoicing, interfacing with authorities having jurisdiction and fostering strong client relationships. Responsibilities Lead and manage the full project lifecycle, from initiation through project closeout. Prepare project work plans and manage schedules and team workloads. Provide design direction to the team, and when necessary, assist the team with design and plan production to meet deadlines. Lead research and communication with authorities having jurisdiction, including: project introductions and pre-application meetings, code requirements and permit processes, and suitability of design approach. Review designs, drawings, calculations, and reports prepared by your team and seal documents as needed. Ensure Burkhardt standards for quality are being met, review plans for clarity and code compliance, evaluate constructability and optimize value. Lead project meetings and deliver presentations at client meetings, planning commission hearings, and council or commissioner meetings as required to obtain project approvals. Prepare proposals and contracts, change orders, and client invoices. Review in-progress project budgets and take corrective actions as needed. Proactively identify project challenges, mitigate scope creep and ensure contract conformance. Coordinate work with internal and external project team members and manage subconsultants. Train, mentor, and develop team members. Maintain strong client relationships by routinely engaging with clients to discuss current and upcoming projects, identify new opportunities, and gather feedback to continuously improve service and performance.
Education / Skills
/ Experience Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field. A minimum of ten (10) years of civil engineering experience, including at least three (3) years in a project management role with direct reports. Professional Licensure (P.E. required). Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D (preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft 365 products. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Proactive and engaging with a strong attention to detail. Servant leadership approach to management. $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
