Manufacturing Engineering Manager Location:
Warrendale, PA Job ID:
3647 Position type Onsite Powering Manufacturing Excellence Through Engineering Leadership! MEPPI's Switchgear Division (SWGD) is seeking an experienced and driven Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing engineering activities that support continuous process improvement and operational optimization. In this leadership role, you will drive efficiencies across facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel—maximizing capacity, productivity, safety, and quality throughout Switchgear manufacturing operations.
What You'll Do Lead Manufacturing Process Optimization :
Provide engineering leadership to develop, standardize, implement, and document efficient manufacturing and material handling techniques for new and existing products, including prototypes. Create and maintain standardized assembly procedures within the Division's manufacturing engineering systems.
Standardize & Improve Workflows :
Oversee workflow optimization and establish standardization across shop-floor tasks and manufacturing activities to improve consistency and efficiency.
Resolve Manufacturing Challenges :
Manage analysis and technical resolution of complex manufacturing issues to support Division performance and customer commitments.
Drive Lean & Six Sigma Initiatives :
Lead the development and implementation of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPS initiatives to eliminate waste and improve process capability.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally :
Partner with departments across SWGD to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements focused on cost reduction, quality enhancement, and operational efficiency.
Specify & Acquire Equipment :
Source, evaluate, specify, and procure assembly, material handling, and safety equipment considering quality, cost, effectiveness, efficiency, and ergonomic design.
Manage Shop Equipment & Tooling :
Oversee factory fixtures, tools, cranes, and related shop equipment; manage maintenance schedules and coordinate outside service providers as required.
Lead Process Improvement Programs :
Champion the Switchgear Process Improvement (PI) Program, encouraging employee participation and continuous improvement ideas.
Support Capital Projects :
Provide technical expertise and leadership for office layout modifications, new facility construction, and other capital improvement projects.
Develop & Lead Talent :
Manage staff in accordance with Company policies; train, cross-train, mentor employees, conduct performance reviews, and provide input for compensation decisions.
Champion Quality, Safety & Environment :
Maintain strong knowledge of MEPPI's Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and communicate their importance throughout daily operations. Represent the
Department Professionally :
Further the goals and professional image of the Manufacturing Engineering Department through effective collaboration with internal teams, visitors, and customers.
What You Bring Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering/technical discipline Minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment Minimum of 3 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience
Technical Expertise :
Advanced knowledge of industrial engineering methods, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and TPS techniques
Skills & Attributes :
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Technology Proficiency :
