  • Attention Applicants:
  • This vacancy is being announced at two different job classes at the same time: Engineer Senior and Engineer 2 Graduate.
Only one position will be filled; the final class and starting salary of this position is dependent on the successful applicant's qualifications. This position is located at district headquarters in Roseville and has the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor. This position exists to guide, manage, and support state and local agencies in the development and delivery of their local federal-aid transportation projects. The incumbent is responsible for the processing, review, and approval of project layouts, environmental documentation, project documents, and construction plans to ensure conformance with state aid rules and guidance, regional policies, state policy, and federal regulations. This role is instrumental in ensuring timely and compliant project delivery in alignment with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Metropolitan Council requirements. The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

  • Minimum Qualifications for
Engineer Senior:
  • To qualify for Engineer Senior, applicants must meet all the following:
  • + Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
(If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a temporary permit from
AELSLAGID
must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.) + Valid Class D Driver's License.
  • Minimum Qualifications for Engineer 2
Graduate:
  • To qualify for Engineer 2 Graduate, applicants must meet all the following: + A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university; and two years post-graduation civil engineering work;
  • OR•+ A Master's degree in Civil from an ABET accredited college/university; and one year of post-graduation civil engineering work.
  • AND•+ A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
+ A valid Class D Driver's License.
  • Engineer Senior & Engineer 2 Graduate resumes must also clearly demonstrate:
  • + Project management experience. + Experience working with City and County engineers on federal, state, and state aid. + Knowledge of State Aid rules and Federal Aid regulations sufficient to assist local agencies in administration of their Federal Aid program.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • + •Knowledge of MnDOT cooperative agreement projects sufficient to recognize needs for locally prepared plans and to understand and reconcile comments made by MnDOT functional areas.
  • + •Knowledge of Metropolitan Council's Regional Solicitation process and policy sufficient to assist local agencies in administration of their Federal Aid program.
