The function you will build Own product engineering architecture, delivery standards, technical prioritization, and the product engineering hiring plan. Partner with design on usability, simulation engineering on experimental capabilities, and infrastructure on production operations. This is a hands-on leadership role. Set the functional roadmap and propose staffing and spending priorities with the founding team. Hiring and budget commitments depend on approved resources; an established team or funded budget is not assumed. Proposed first 90 days after joining Use these as an initial agenda, refined with the founders against the product, customer needs, and resources at your start. Trace a customer workflow end to end and identify the largest obstacles to completing a useful study. Ship a focused improvement that connects interface, API, data model, and experimental execution, with observable behavior and clear failure states. Establish engineering practices for tenant boundaries, data handling, testing, rollout, and recovery appropriate to enterprise use. Build a roadmap that balances customer needs, maintainability, and research integration, with explicit staffing and budget proposals. How we will judge progress Customers complete workflows reliably and new capabilities reach them with fewer manual handoffs. Measure task completion, production defects, delivery lead time, and support burden. Keep critical product behavior understandable and maintainable as the team grows. What you bring You have led engineering for a production enterprise or technical product and can show architecture and delivery decisions you personally owned. You can work across frontend, backend, APIs, and data systems while giving engineers clear direction and useful code review. You can build a team, collaborate with designers and researchers, and stay hands-on when an important customer problem requires it. We are looking for evidence of judgment, execution, and leadership. A particular company pedigree or previous executive title is not a substitute for that evidence. Compensation and funding We are actively fundraising.
