Craft the technology strategy to accomplish CSBG's broader objectives. Provide executive oversight of CSBG's end‑to‑end engineering execution across new product development, sustaining, upgrades, and service solutions. Lead multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality, reliable, and cost‑effective solutions on time and on budget. Drive innovation through adoption of automation, analytics, RF & power electronics, and mechatronics to improve equipment performance, reliability, and uptime.Operational Excellence & Disciplined Execution:
Champion rigorous engineering processes and governance, ensuring consistent application of Lam frameworks (PDR, PPL, EPL, PR/NSR). Enforce strong quality and reliability standards through disciplined design reviews, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Monitor and act on key performance metrics (e.g., cycle time, on‑time delivery, beta success, field quality). Ensure rapid, effective resolution of critical field escalations and institutionalize lessons learned.Financial Management & Resource Accountability:
Own CSBG Engineering budgets, headcount, and resource allocation across global teams. Manage OPEX and CAPEX to meet financial targets while balancing innovation, customer needs, and cost. Drive cost reduction through design‑for‑cost, value engineering, and supplier optimization. Track financial performance and adjust plans to maximize ROI, margins, and execution predictability.Talent Development & Succession:
Build and sustain a high‑performing global engineering organization. Develop future leaders through mentoring, succession planning, and targeted skills development. Strengthen critical capabilities across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering using structured training, cross‑functional exposure, and leadership development to ensure scalability and long‑term organizational health. Partner with CSBG Business Units, Operations, Supply Chain, and Field teams to deliver customer‑aligned engineering solutions. Translate customer needs and business priorities into engineering actions aligned with product roadmaps. Drive design‑for‑manufacturability and cost reduction with Operations and Supply Chain. Engage key customers as needed to resolve complex issues and improve equipment performance, reliability, and uptime. Engineering Domain Team Leadership (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems): Lead and integrate CSBG's Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Engineering teams to deliver cohesive, high‑quality hardware solutions globally.Mechanical Engineering:
Guide global mechanical teams to deliver robust, manufacturable, and cost‑effective designs. Set standards for CAD quality, GD&T, FEA, and validation testing. Drive design‑for‑manufacturability and cost reduction while maintaining reliability and serviceability.Electrical Engineering:
Oversee power, controls, electronics, RF, and sensor integration to meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements (SEMI, CE, electrical codes). Drive innovation in power and control architectures and ensure rigorous validation (EMI/EMC, electrical safety).Systems Engineering:
Own system‑level architecture, requirements, and integration across hardware, controls, firmware, and software. Ensure clear requirements management, interface control, and system‑level testing. Maintain system theory‑of‑operation and accountability for performance, reliability, and customer outcomes. Who we're looking for Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 20+ years of related experience and 10+ years in mgmt. An advanced degree preferred. Preferred qualificationsEducational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field (required).Professional Experience:
20+ years of progressive professional experience in engineering or high-technology environments, demonstrating increasing responsibilities.Leadership & Management:
10+ years of engineering leadership and people management experience, including leading sizable, multi-disciplinary engineering teams.Broad Technical Expertise:
Comprehensive engineering background spanning mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering domains, enabling oversight of complex integrated hardware systems.Hardware Development & Sustaining:
Demonstrated experience driving full product lifecycle for complex hardware or system products - from initial development through launch and sustained support of an installed customer base.Engineering Process Ownership:
Proven track record of owning and improving core engineering business processes (e.g. product development cycles, sustaining engineering, product upgrades, managing PR/NSR issues, and handling technical escalations).Financial & Operational Acumen:
Experience managing sizable engineering budgets, headcount planning, and making strategic investment trade-off decisions to meet business and operational objectives.Global Leadership:
Demonstrated success leading global, cross-cultural engineering teams, fostering collaboration across multiple regions and cultural contexts.Cross-Functional & Customer Engagement:
