Job Description

Ready to take the lead on impactful transportation projects? ATCS is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer or Roadway Engineering Project Manager to join our growing Virginia transportation team. This is a hybrid position based in Hampton Roads (Virginia Beach or Newport News) or Glen Allen, offering the opportunity to work on high-profile VDOT and municipal roadway projects while helping shape the future of our roadway design practice. What You'll Do As a key member of our team, you'll lead and contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of roadway infrastructure projects throughout Virginia. You'll have the opportunity to: Design and manage VDOT and municipal roadway projects from concept through construction Develop roadway plans, profiles, typical sections, maintenance of traffic plans, and cost estimates Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and project stakeholders Mentor and guide junior engineers while supporting team growth Coordinate with contractors, utility providers, and public agencies Participate in public meetings and help drive successful project outcomes What Makes This Opportunity Unique Work on meaningful transportation projects that improve communities across Virginia Join a growing team with strong project backlog and career advancement opportunities Expand your leadership responsibilities and influence project delivery Enjoy a collaborative, people-first culture recognized as a USA Today Top Workplace Benefit from a flexible hybrid work environment What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering 6+ years of roadway design experience, preferably in Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; candidates licensed in other states will be considered with a commitment to obtain Virginia licensure Experience with MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD); Civil 3D experience is a plus Knowledge of AASHTO, VDOT, and local design standards and practices Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills If you're looking for the chance to take on challenging projects, grow your career, and make a lasting impact on Virginia's transportation infrastructure, we'd love to connect. Our employees are the most critical part of ATCS. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $125,000 to $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, with a target 2% of the employee's annualized salary.
