About the Role Christmas Lumber Company is hiring a Design Manager to lead quality and coaching for our growing roof and floor truss design team. This is a working-manager role — you'll spend roughly 40-50% of your time designing, while owning the accuracy, standards, and development of the rest of the team. Initially, you will not have to own scheduling or work assignment (we have a coordinator for this) or department administration — your focus is the quality and craft of the design work itself. What You'll Do Design roof and floor truss packages for 40-50% of your time Check and review the team's design work for accuracy and code/engineering compliance Set and maintain design standards and best practices across the team Coach and mentor designers to improve output efficnency, quality, and reduce rework Own hitting design deadlines for your team's queue Partner with sales/production coordination on priorities without owning the scheduling function directly What We're Looking For Experience designing roof and floor trusses using Alpine software Prior experience reviewing or checking others' design work, or leading/mentoring a small design team Strong attention to detail and comfort holding a team accountable to efficiency and accuracy standards Ability to balance hands-on design output with team leadership responsibilities
