Your Opportunity As the Manager of Biomedical Engineering , you will lead and oversee the Clinical Engineering program at a regional hospital in Odessa, Texas. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for operational excellence, strategic planning, customer relationships, and developing a high-performing team. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of the department, influence hospital leadership, and build a program that directly impacts patient safety, operational efficiency, and financial stewardship. What You'll Do Program Leadership & Operations Lead all aspects of the hospital's Clinical Engineering program and daily operations Develop and execute strategic plans to improve equipment reliability, compliance, and customer satisfaction Ensure preventative maintenance completion, regulatory compliance, and survey readiness Manage equipment uptime, downtime communication, and service escalation processes Oversee inventory management, asset visibility, and medical equipment lifecycle planning Partner with leadership on capital planning and equipment replacement strategies Analyze service contracts and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements Implement performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives Leadership & Team Development Recruit, mentor, and develop Biomedical Equipment Technicians Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer service excellence Conduct regular coaching, training, and competency assessments Develop future leaders and succession plans within the department Foster an employee-first environment where people can grow and thrive Lead by example through visibility, engagement, and service-oriented leadership Customer Relationships & Strategic Partnership Serve as a trusted advisor to hospital executives, department leaders, and clinical staff Build relationships across nursing, surgery, imaging, IT, facilities, supply chain, and administration Communicate clearly and proactively during mission-critical equipment events Participate in leadership meetings, Environment of Care rounds, committees, and strategic initiatives Translate complex technical information into meaningful business solutions for hospital leadership Financial Stewardship Manage department budgets, parts spending, and resource allocation Track and analyze KPIs, productivity metrics, and equipment performance Identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved equipment utilization Provide reporting and recommendations that support data-driven decision making Ensure accurate documentation, billing support, and program reporting What Makes You a Great Fit Required Qualifications Five or more years of biomedical equipment experience in a healthcare environment Previous leadership experience managing teams, projects, or hospital programs Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or equivalent military training and experience Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards Experience with CMMS systems such as TruAsset, TMS, AIMS, or similar platforms Strong communication and relationship-building skills Preferred Qualifications CBET Certification Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Engineering, Business, or related field Experience managing outsourced or in-house Clinical Engineering programs Knowledge of cybersecurity, capital planning, service contract management, and healthcare technology strategy The Leader We're Looking For You are: A mentor who develops people and builds strong teams A strategic thinker who sees the big picture A relationship builder who earns trust quickly A problem solver who stays calm under pressure A communicator who can speak comfortably with both technicians and executives A leader who wants to leave a department better than you found it Most importantly, you believe biomedical engineering isn't just about fixing equipment.
