Job Description

What to Expect As Tesla's Electrical Project Manager, you will own the procurement, contracting strategy and construction of the electrical infrastructure that powers refineries: high-voltage substations, medium-voltage distribution, transformers, switchgear, site cabling, grounding, and permanent utility connections that will carry power from the grid to the process, including energizations. What You'll Do Own full project execution of electrical scopes including HV substations, medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, site power distribution, MV/LV cable, lighting, grounding, and cathodic protection systems from design integration and receipt through energization Drive substation and electrical distribution construction with urgency and precision, managing equipment setting, cable installation, and termination sequencing to protect the critical path Administer electrical contracts, manage change orders, track cost performance, and present budget status Coordinate electrical scope interfaces with OSBL utility systems and ISBL process area requirements, ensuring power distribution energization plans support commissioning and startup sequencing Coordinate with electrical design and EPC engineering teams, equipment OEMs, and utility providers, providing construction need-by dates, and constructability feedback, ensuring deliverables and long-lead procurement timelines support field construction sequences Manage the utility interconnection process, including interconnection studies, service agreements, and assist in regulatory submissions, ensuring external approvals are never the gate to operations Lead energization planning in coordination with the commissioning team, ensuring all systems are energized safely, in sequence, and ahead of process area startup requirements What You'll Bring 5+ years managing electrical scopes on major capital projects $50M+: HV/MV substations, site power distribution, large-scale cable and switchgear installation in industrial or refinery environments Electrical engineering degree or equivalent technical experience required Strong technical foundation in HV/MV system design, substation construction, transformer and switchgear specifications, and site grounding systems Experience managing utility interconnection processes, including direct engagement with utility companies, independent system operators, and regulatory bodies is preferred Proven ability to manage electrical contracts, track cost and schedule performance, and drive subcontractor accountability on fast-moving capital projects.
