In Ireland, Jacobs plays a key role in delivering complex, high-value projects for global semiconductor clients, supporting the rapid expansion of advanced manufacturing facilities. Role Overview Jacobs is seeking an experienced Design Lead to support a Semiconductor Tool Install (TI) project. The Design Lead will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating multi-discipline design activities related to tool installation, ensuring designs are safe, compliant, constructible, and aligned with project schedule and cost objectives. This role requires strong technical leadership, stakeholder coordination, and hands-on experience within semiconductor manufacturing environments. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate multi-discipline design activities (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, CSA, and Controls) related to semiconductor tool installation. Act as the primary design focal point for Tool Install scope, interfacing with project management, construction, equipment vendors, and client representatives. Manage design deliverables across all project phases, from concept and detailed design through construction support. Review and approve design documentation including layouts, utility hook-ups, equipment interfaces, and installation details. Ensure compliance with client standards, Jacobs engineering practices, local codes, and health & safety requirements. Identify and manage design risks, constructability issues, and interface challenges between tools, utilities, and existing facilities. Support schedule planning, design sequencing, and prioritisation aligned to tool arrival and installation milestones. Lead design reviews, HAZOPs / risk assessments, and technical workshops with internal and external stakeholders. Mentor and guide designers and engineers, promoting quality, consistency, and best practice. Provide technical input to change management and support field queries during construction and commissioning. . Here's what you'll need Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline). Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in semiconductor facilities, with strong exposure to Tool Install projects. Proven experience in a Design Lead or Senior Design Engineer role on complex, fast-paced projects. Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing tools and supporting utilities (e.g. cleanroom layouts, UPW, gases, exhaust, power, CDA, vacuum). Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing design interfaces. Familiarity with Irish / EU codes, safety regulations, and industry standards relevant to high-tech manufacturing. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Desirable Skills & Experience Experience working on live manufacturing sites. Knowledge of construction sequencing and installation constraints in cleanroom environments. Client-facing experience with major multinational semiconductor manufacturers.
