Job Description

Executive Vice President (Electrical/MEP) Direct HireGlen Allen. VA$170-225k Position Summary The Executive Vice President (EVP) is the senior operational leader of this family-owned MEP contracting company and is responsible for the overall performance, stability, and long-term success of the business. The EVP leads the organization's day-to-day operations, financial performance, and growth while honoring the company's legacy, values, and commitment to employees, customers, and the communities it serves. This role balances operational excellence with stewardship—ensuring the business is well-run today while positioned for sustainable growth for future generations. The EVP partners closely with the Corporate COO, providing transparency, reporting, and strategic alignment while maintaining full accountability for local execution and results. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Stewardship Serve as the day-to-day leader of the organization, setting clear expectations, priorities, and standards across all departments. Uphold and reinforce the company's family-owned values, culture, and reputation. Build trust and credibility with field teams, leadership, customers, and ownership through consistent, values-based leadership. Act as a visible, approachable leader with regular presence in office and across job sites. Operations Management Oversee all daily operations including field operations, project management, service, estimating, procurement, and scheduling. Drive operational consistency while respecting the practical realities of the field and existing company practices. Ensure compliance with all electrical codes, licensing requirements, safety regulations (OSHA), and internal policies. Financial Oversight Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning with a focus on long-term stability and responsible growth. Make thoughtful capital and staffing decisions that balance growth opportunities with financial discipline. Review and approve major bids, contracts, and expenditures. Growth & Business Development Lead sustainable growth initiatives aligned with company capabilities, values, and market reputation. Strengthen relationships with long-standing customers while pursuing new opportunities that fit the company's culture and risk tolerance. Support estimating and preconstruction efforts to ensure the company pursues the right work. Evaluate opportunities for expanded services or markets with a long-term ownership mindset. People & Culture Develop, mentor, and retain a strong leadership team with an emphasis on internal growth and succession planning. Support a workplace culture that values craftsmanship, safety, accountability, and respect. Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR to ensure effective hiring, training, performance management, and employee development. Promote open communication and stability during periods of change or growth. Safety & Risk Management Champion a strong, personal commitment to safety across all levels of the organization. Ensure safety programs, training, and jobsite practices are consistently followed. Proactively identify and mitigate operational, contractual, and financial risk. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in electrical contracting or construction. Demonstrated experience leading operations with full P&L responsibility. Strong understanding of electrical construction operations, safety, and regulatory requirements. Proven ability to lead with humility, consistency, and accountability. Preferred Experience working within a family-owned or closely held business. Experience partnering with corporate or shared-services leadership. Advanced degree (MBA or similar).
