Northshore Utility District in Kenmore, Washington is seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager.
License:
PE Preferred, Not Required Schedule:
M-F 8:00am-4:30pm OR 9/80 schedule (M-Th 7:00am-4:30pm, Fri 7:00am-3:30pm with every other Friday off). Northshore Utility District (NUD) is seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager with minimum of 8 years' experience in Developer Extension and/or Capital Improvement projects to join our team. In this role, you will take on meaningful work that directly supports the growth and reliability of public infrastructure for the community we serve. We offer competitive wages (75th percentile of comparable agencies), and your pay is based on experience and whether you hold a current WA Professional Engineer (PE) License, which is preferred but not required. This position is open until it is filled. Works independently under general supervision to provide professional engineering services for the planning, budget development, design, permitting, Developer Extensions, and public involvement for capital improvement projects. Administers consultant contracts and manages consultants during design and provides support during construction for design modifications and project closeout. Provides Board reports and status reports. Participates in studies, comprehensive plan updates, project status updates, and engineering department policy decisions. Assists in the development of engineering standards and policies. Provides technical support to other departments.REPORTING DIRECTLY TO
Engineering Supervisor Examples of Duties Prepares and reviews studies, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for District Capital Improvement Projects and/or Developer Extensions for water and wastewater infrastructure. Manages consultants working on the design of District capital improvement projects and/or Developer Extensions for water and wastewater infrastructure. Provides construction support for District capital improvement projects and/or Developer Extensions for water and wastewater infrastructure. Successfully prioritize competing deadlines, schedules, and resources among a variety of customers to ensure timely delivery of projects. Works closely with the Maintenance & Operations Department to ensure that projects meet the long-term ownership and maintenance requirements of the District. Assists in maintaining standard plans and specifications. Conduct site visits that include travel between job sites, (1-2 times per week) to assess design proposals for accuracy and compliance with project specifications. Prepares Board reports and provides project status updates. Assists in planning and budgeting capital improvement projects and/or Developer Extensions. Assists in developing Engineering Department policy. Coordinates outside agency projects. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications Comprehensive understanding of the operations of a public water and sewer utility. Highly proficient in civil engineering aspects of design, operation, construction and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Highly proficient in the preparation, reading and interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and estimates. Proficient in all phases of project management. Proficient in the development and interpretation of legal descriptions and in obtaining and utilizing field survey information. Proficient in the use of GIS mapping. Ability to deal tactfully with coworkers, contractors, consultants, permitting agencies and the public. Must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to reliably travel to multiple job sites per week by a method that allows timely arrival. If driving a company vehicle, a valid driver s license may be necessary since no alternative method of transportation is available that reasonably matches time and cost. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Full understanding of District policies and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, contractors, consultants, supervisors, and members of the public. Flexibility in accepting assignments. Experience/Education Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Eight (8) years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience managing projects through design and permitting in the field of water and wastewater desired. Experience in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, construction and surveying preferred.Licensing Requirements:
Current Washington State Professional Civil Engineering Registration preferred but not required. Ability to travel to job sites as needed by a means that ensures timely arrival. If the duties of the position require operating a motor vehicle where no reasonable alternative transportation method exists, possession of a valid Washington State driver s license (and acceptable driving record) will be required.Other Requirements :
Reliable and regular attendance, and the ability to work harmoniously with other employees.WORKING CONDITIONS
: Most work is performed indoors in an office environment; however, field work is required. This may include outdoor activities in varying weather conditions and visits to active construction sites. Site visits may involve walking long distances, standing for extended periods, navigating uneven ground, mud, gravel or other rough construction terrain. This position may occasionally require climbing ladders, entering underground vaults, or other confined spaces. Traveling to project sites is necessary and may require transportation by a method that ensures timely arrival, depending on the project, driving may be required where no reasonable alternative exists. This position may require availability for evening, night, or weekend in response to emergencies or project demands. Physical requirements included sufficient mobility, balance, and coordination to move safely through active construction zones, along with the ability to perform tasks that involve fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
