Mechanical Project Manager Mechanical Project Manager Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead mechanical design and construction projectsprimarily HVAC and building systemsthrough planning, execution, and closeout. The role combines technical mechanical expertise with construction project management to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and to required quality, safety, and code standards. The ideal candidate will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage subcontractors, and serve as the client and stakeholder point of contact. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage mechanical projects from proposal through closeout, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and quality control. Coordinate mechanical design, procurement, and installation activities for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and related building systems. Develop and maintain project schedules (MS Project or equivalent) and ensure milestones are met; adjust plans to mitigate delays or conflicts. Prepare and manage project budgets, change orders, and cost forecasts; review invoices and subcontractor payment requests. Review mechanical design drawings and specifications; ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. Oversee subcontractor selection, negotiation, and performance; conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings. Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, electrical teams, and clients to resolve design and construction issues. Implement and enforce safety and quality control procedures; ensure all work complies with OSHA and company safety standards. Provide regular project reporting to stakeholders, including progress updates, risk registers, and commissioning results. Mentor and supervise junior engineering and field staff; promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered. Minimum 5 years of mechanical construction or project management experience, with proven experience managing HVAC projects. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, piping, and related building services. Experience with construction scheduling and project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Procore, or similar). Proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings; familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit is preferred. Track record managing budgets, contracts, and change orders; strong commercial awareness. Familiarity with local building codes, mechanical codes (ASHRAE, IMC), and commissioning processes. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Relevant certifications preferred:
PMP, PE (Mechanical), OSHA 30, or HVAC commissioning credentials. Ability to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as project needs require.
