Job Description

Construction Design Supervisor This full-time position reports to the Manager of Construction Design and is located at the Operations Center, 8600 NE 117 th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98662.
WHAT YOU WOULD DO
This position will supervise associate design engineers and contribute to setting the focus and priorities of the Construction Design department and provide utility and engineering expertise to assist customers in solving electric service concerns. Direct the design of residential, commercial, and industrial line extensions and the utility's distribution facilities. Assign project personnel, coordinate activities, and review and approve design work. Direct and track the design of unbudgeted capital maintenance and upgrade projects. Responsible for inter-agency capital work project coordination. Coordinate design and construction activities for agency driven work with all parties involved. Monitor city, county, state and federal construction projects as they impact the utility's electrical facilities. Assist with department's technical trainings, development of best practices for design and participation on the Standards Committee. Consult with customers and internal departments to resolve customer issues. Other duties may be assigned determined by utility needs and individual qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least five years of experience with transmission and/or distribution facilities design required. Leadership and/or utility supervisory experience is preferred. Candidates should have thorough knowledge of the electric utility engineering design and construction standards as well as knowledge of NESC, NEC, and other applicable governmental codes, rules and regulations. Comprehensive knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical system design required. Successful candidates will have outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex and technical issues, and demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.

Employees are enrolled in Washington State PERS and may enroll in deferred compensation plans. Employees will also receive eight hours of vacation leave and sick leave every month and twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
SALARY:
Employees are compensated within the established salary range. As skills, experience, and sustained performance grow, pay may progress within the range over time, with midpoint serving as a general reference point for employees who demonstrate full proficiency in the role.
