Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. 1. Develop, establish, and implement long-range and short-term strategies and operating policies to achieve established departmental goals and objectives. 2. Plan, organize, and schedule the work of their Engineering Team to allow procurement and production to meet the shipping schedule for machines and service orders. 3. Directly supervise the workforce to ensure proper engineering principles and applications are followed and customer specifications are met within cost of projects. 4. Communicate directly with customers and engineering department to determine needs and applications relative to special installations and adaptations. 5. Review staff designs and design changes and make recommendations to improve design, reduce cost, or increase production efficiency. 6. Determine engineering hours and project costs to provide project estimates. 7. Confer with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. 8. Manage the portfolio of service projects within the Service Ticket funnel and ensure projects remain on time and within budget. 9. Ensure Engineering Staff, tools and processes are world-class and provide the best return on investment in the industry. 10. Drive continuous improvement with yearly efficiency, education, and safety enhancements. 11. Keep up to date on new developments in the field of engineering or product design. Education and/Or Experience Requires education generally equivalent to a bachelor's degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering from a four-year college or university and five to ten years related experience. Previous administration/management experience is preferred. Summary Under the direction of the Engineering Director, the Engineering Manager directs and coordinates engineering activities to drive service support for a large and diverse install base, design engineered products, configure standard products, support manufacturing and service, and meet customer specifications involved in the manufacturing of equipment. The preferred candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of industrial automation systems, thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing and urgent demands on finite resources, able to work cross functionally with all departments within the organization, openly advocate for required resources to meet deadlines when necessary, and embody "People-First" leadership model.
