Job Description

Monte Sano Research Corporation (MSRC) is a Huntsville-based Small Business specializing in providing full-spectrum defense system engineering, research, design, development, integration, test, evaluation, and planning services to the U.S. Government. Our primary focus at MSRC is to provide extraordinary talent to propel the Warfighter, and we seek to hire people who are Elevated (always do the right thing), Exceptional (the very best at what they do), and Enduring (self-disciplined; self-motivated). MSRC is seeking a Chemical/Environmental Engineer to lead the safety and environmental compliance programs for the Energetic Materials Division at Redstone Arsenal. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the hazardous materials program, ensuring full regulatory adherence, and promoting a safe operational environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary subject matter expert on environmental compliance, providing regulatory guidance to management and staff to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. Lead the division's compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and other key environmental regulations. Manage the comprehensive hazardous materials program, overseeing the proper storage, tracking, and implementation of laboratory safety protocols. Oversee the hazardous waste program, providing clear guidance on the proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste, non-regulated waste, and recyclable materials. Lead the transition and successful implementation of the new chemical inventory management program. Develop and conduct environmental compliance and safety training for all division personnel to foster a culture of awareness and accountability. Conduct internal inspections of facilities and operations; prepare for and facilitate inspections from external regulatory agencies. Act as the principal liaison between the division and key regulatory bodies, including the RSA Garrison Environmental Management Division, ADEM, EPA, and various Army environmental groups. Coordinate with the Industrial Hygiene team to ensure all laboratory safety requirements are rigorously followed and to address any emergent concerns. Perform additional duties as assigned. Education Bachelor of Science in relevant discipline required (i.e. Chemistry, Biology, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering, etc.). Masters degree preferred
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in chemical/Environmental related field. Experience and extensive knowledge of government regulations in regards to hazardous materials, hazardous waste, pollution, air emissions Strong ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team. Self-motivated with the capability to work independently. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
Experience in a DoW, government facilities or R D environment.
Additional Requirements:
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. Candidate must currently possess and be able to maintain an active security clearance.
