Nucor Steel Arkansas is seeking a technically proficient Environmental Engineer to lead and support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across our division. This role demands a strong foundation in engineering principles, regulatory frameworks, and environmental systems, with hands-on experience in industrial operations or equivalent work experience. The role of the Environmental Engineer includes but is not limited to:- Actively engaging with all departments to assist with understanding and continuous improvement of environmental compliance
- Taking a lead role in plant-wide environmental training and audits
- Assisting the division with monitoring, sampling, and testing programs and activities as needed to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements and permit limitations
- Conducting preparation and technical evaluation of applications, plans, permits, and associated compliance related to environmental media, including water, waste, and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC).
- Assessing environmental initiatives and managing contractor performance.
- Monitoring on-site waste production, disposal activities, and recycling processes.
- Conducting audits of disposal and recycling facilities.
- Collaborating with and fostering strong partnerships with key stakeholders including environmental regulatory agencies, teammates, and fellow environmental professionals.
- Capable of understanding and applying environmental laws and regulations effectively.
- Planning and participating in community outreach and education activities This position will require some travel.
