Our client is a leader in natural resources and heavy industrial operations committed to operational excellence and sustainable resource management. We are seeking a Chief Environmental Engineer to serve as the site subject matter expert across air, water, and waste management systems while partnering with operational leadership and regulatory agencies to drive compliance and continuous improvement. Here's what you'll be doing:
Directing and evaluating site-wide environmental programs across air quality, water management, hazardous waste, and site reclamation to ensure full alignment with federal, state, and local environmental standards.
Leading air permitting programs and emissions compliance, including developing permit applications, negotiating conditions with regulatory agencies (EPA/DEQ), and utilizing emissions inventories to drive control strategies.
Serving as Senior Project Manager for complex environmental initiatives, overseeing full project lifecycles planning, capital budgeting (AFE), contractor management, risk assessment, and execution for remediation and infrastructure projects.
Managing Environmental Management Systems (EMS / ISO 14001), conducting environmental audits, leading root-cause incident investigations, and establishing corrective action plans to maintain defensible compliance records.
Here's what our ideal candidate has:
Master's degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Mining, Geological, or related Engineering discipline with 5+ years of progressive environmental management/project management experience (OR a Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience).
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, EPCRA, TSCA, SARA) and extensive experience in air/water permitting execution.
Demonstrated track record leading multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and external consultants on large-scale environmental capital projects ($1M+ scope).
