Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Environmental Engineer with 8+ years of progressive experience in environmental engineering. In this role, you will provide engineering and design support within our established environmental services practice, with a focus on site assessment, remediation system design, and regulatory compliance. This primarily office-based position involves limited travel and includes project oversight, preparation of technical reports, remedial system design, and mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the Florida DEP Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP), along with demonstrated experience in remediation design, Florida environmental regulations, and standard operating procedures. A solid working knowledge of applicable state and federal environmental regulations is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare Remedial Action Plans (RAPs) and associated technical reports, including the design and evaluation of remediation systems such as air sparging (AS), soil vapor extraction (SVE), chemical injection, excavation/source removal, and other technologies to support site cleanup and optimization across Florida. Provide technical leadership in the design, evaluation, and optimization of remedial systems, including system startup, performance monitoring, and long-term O&M strategy. Design, oversee, and troubleshoot remedial systems; manage system startup and O&M activities. Compile and evaluate environmental and remedial data to support project objectives. Conduct and document pilot studies; prepare corresponding plans and reports. Conduct site inspections to insure compliance with various environmental permits. Manage permits including FDOT ROW and NPDES. Mentor junior staff and assist with professional development. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (geologists, scientists, and engineers) to advance site assessment and remedial design strategies. Provide project management and oversight of remedial construction, system installation, and field implementation activities. Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university. Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant environmental engineering experience, including remediation design and implementation. Active Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. Demonstrated field experience in environmental engineering applications. Firm understanding of Florida environmental regulations and the petroleum cleanup program. Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High level project management, problem-solving, and analytical abilities. Valid driver's license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening. Availability for occasional travel within Florida. Preferred Qualifications (Not Required but Ideal): Experience with air permitting and environmental due diligence, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. Experience with NPDES permitting and compliance. Prior experience supporting proposals, client development, or business development initiatives. Certifications (Preferred but Not Required): 40-Hour
