  • Burns & McDonnell's Water Practice in our St.
Louis, MO office is searching for a Municipal Engineer for its growing Water Practice. Founded in 1898, Burns & McDonnell is a 100% employee-owned firm. The candidate will be responsible for understanding, applying, and designing municipal water and/or wastewater systems, as well as providing construction phase support for these projects. Additional opportunities for this candidate will include identifying and obtaining projects, contributing to the technical growth of the group, staff mentoring, inter-discipline coordination, developing budgets and schedules, client development, and client maintenance. This candidate may develop and evaluate plans for municipal projects.
Additional duties are summarized below:
+ Perform design on municipal projects from the planning phase through design completion. Pending on candidate capabilities, this support could include hydraulic modeling, design (drinking water or wastewater linear design, site-civil grading, or stormwater design) tasks or municipal facility process (chemical, physical, biological treatment processes) tasks. + Modify and review production drawings for various municipal water/wastewater projects. + Perform planning or design efforts for civil/environmental components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. + Applies strong knowledge of commonly used civil and/or environmental engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the civil and/or environmental engineering services industry. + Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers. Compiles studies and reports. Writes specifications. + Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software. + Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, governmental and military facilities. + Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients. + All other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
  • + Bachelor Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of environmental engineering experience, consulting preferred required.
+ Bachelor Degree in Environmental or Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of environmental engineering experience, consulting preferred required. + Master Degree in Environmental Engineering and 2 years of environmental engineering experience, consulting preferred required + Strong knowledge in standard environmental engineering techniques and procedures. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills. + Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). + Strong computer skills include Auto
CAD, BIM
(Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, and environmental analysis programs. + Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills. + Engineers in Training-EIT Certification.
