Duties Description The Division of Environmental Remediation, Central Office, is filling five positions (three in Remedial Bureau B, one in Remedial Bureau C, and one in Remedial Bureau E). The job duties for these positions are listed below.

Job Duties:

Remedial Bureau B Project manager position for various state-funded, privately funded, and federally funded remedial program sites. Duties include management and oversight of investigation and cleanup projects in the State's Superfund, the Federal Superfund Program, Brownfield, Spills and RCRA Corrective Action programs. Duties will involve interaction with remedial parties, property owners, the public and governmental agencies; oversight of remediation sites, remedial consultants, and contractors; review of site conditions and data to assess the nature and extent of site contamination, and evaluation of remedial alternatives and remedy selection; design and implementation of selected remedies and monitoring of remedy effectiveness. The project manager is expected to manage multiple projects, while prioritizing workload and addressing all site engineering and administrative needs. Tasks will include review and evaluation of work plans, investigation reports, feasibility studies, design reports, construction plans and specifications, final engineering reports, project completion reports, and site management plans to ensure conformance with current regulations, standards, guidance, and policies.

Job Duties:

Remedial Bureau C The successful candidate will serve as a project manager overseeing state-funded and privately funded remedial programs at a variety of sites across New York State. Duties include project management in all project phases including site investigation and remediation for projects in programs such as the State Superfund (SSF) program, Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) program, and the Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) program. Duties will include the technical review of all site documents, including workplans, RI/FS reports, design documents, and reports to assess compliance with New York State policies and regulations; drafting factsheets, decision documents and records of decision; interaction with remedial parties, property owners, the public, governmental agencies and municipal leadership; oversight of remediation sites, remedial consultants and contractors; review of site conditions and data to assess the nature and extent of contamination; evaluation of remedial alternatives and remedy selection; review of remedial designs and implementation of selected remedies; and monitoring of remedy effectiveness. The project manager is expected to manage multiple projects while prioritizing workload and addressing all site engineering and administrative needs.

Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. To be eligible for appointment under NY HELPS, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications. Individuals appointed as an Engineer Trainee are required to complete a minimum of one year of successful performance as an Engineer Trainee and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. If you pass the FE by the end of the first year, you may be advanced to the Grade 20 Assistant Engineer (Environmental) title. If you do not pass the FE by the end of the second year of the traineeship, you will be terminated from your position. Minimum Qualifications Reassignment

Qualifying experience:

One year of full-time experience in sanitary, public health or environmental engineering.

NOTE:

• If appointment is at the Assistant Engineer, SG-20 level, the starting salary for this position is $81,193.

This amount is comprised of the base salary of $74,193 with an additional geographic pay differential of $7,000 specific to this title and location. The job rate for this position is $101,121. This amount is comprised of the base salary of $ 94,121 with an additional geographic pay differential of $7,000 specific to this title and location. Please note, this is not extended to any trainee titles.

If appointed at trainee level, you will receive the differential upon advancement to grade 20. Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required.
