Position SummaryThe Project Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist is responsible for managing environmental investigation and remediation projects from planning through completion. This role requires strong technical judgment, regulatory familiarity, and the ability to lead field teams, coordinate with clients and agencies, and deliver high-quality environmental reports and proposals.
The ideal candidate brings 5 to 10 years of recent environmental consulting experience, including hands-on project execution and client-facing responsibilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Investigations
- Lead and manage Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, including scope development, field oversight, data evaluation, and reporting.
Remediation Oversight
- Support and manage soil and groundwater remediation activities, including system implementation, monitoring, and optimization.
Regulatory Coordination
- Interface with federal, state, and local agencies such as EPA, DTSC, RWQCB, and county environmental health departments.
Field Leadership
- Direct and mentor staff during field activities including drilling oversight, logging borings and trenches, core evaluation, and soil/soil gas/groundwater sampling.
Technical Reporting
- Prepare environmental proposals, technical reports, work plans, and regulatory submittals.
Project Management
- Manage schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and project deliverables while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
Team Development
- Provide technical guidance to staff-level engineers, geologists, and field technicians.
Client Engagement
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, communicate project status, and support business development efforts.
QualificationsB.S. in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
Professional registration preferred (California PG, CEG, or PE).5+ years of environmental consulting experience with demonstrated project management capability.
OSHA 40-hour
HAZWOPER
certification required.
Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Adobe.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple concurrent projects.
Experience with construction activities or construction-related environmental work is a plus.
Advanced degree preferred but not required.
