Overview This isn't just another Environmental Engineering role. You'll contribute to one of the most technically demanding and consequential infrastructure projects in the United States. As the Environmental Engineer , you'll support environmental compliance, monitoring, and sustainability programs for our uranium enrichment facility. This role ensures that operations meet all federal, state, and local environmental requirements, with a focus on NRC-licensed activities, radiological and non-radiological environmental protection, and continuous improvement of environmental performance. The position works closely with engineering, operations, radiation protection, and regulatory affairs teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting Maintain compliance with NRC, EPA, state environmental agencies, and local regulations governing air, water, waste, and radiological releases. Prepare and submit required environmental reports, including annual environmental operating reports, emissions inventories, groundwater monitoring summaries, and NEPA-related documentation. Support environmental permitting activities (air permits, wastewater discharge permits, hazardous waste permits). Track regulatory changes and advise management on impacts to facility operations. 2. Environmental Monitoring & Assessment Conduct routine and event-driven sampling of air, water, soil, sediment, and biota. Review and interpret environmental monitoring data to identify trends, anomalies, or potential compliance issues. Support radiological environmental monitoring programs, including effluent monitoring and dose assessment modeling. Participate in environmental inspections, audits, and corrective action processes. 3. Waste Management & Pollution Prevention Support management of hazardous, non-hazardous, mixed, and radioactive waste streams. Develop and implement waste minimization and pollution prevention initiatives. Ensure proper labeling, storage, and documentation of waste in accordance with RCRA, DOT, and NRC requirements. 4. Technical Analysis & Documentation Prepare technical evaluations, environmental impact analyses, and engineering calculations related to facility operations. Develop and maintain environmental procedures, work instructions, and training materials. Support environmental aspects of facility modifications, new construction, and decommissioning activities. 5. Stakeholder Engagement Interface with federal and state regulators during inspections, audits, and technical meetings. Provide environmental training and guidance to operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel. Support community outreach and public communication related to environmental performance. 6. Emergency Preparedness & Incident Response Participate in environmental response activities for spills, releases, or abnormal events. Support root cause evaluations and corrective action development. Maintain readiness for emergency drills and exercises. Profil souhaité Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, or related technical field. 2-5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in a regulated industrial, nuclear, or utility environment. Working knowledge of NRC, EPA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, NEPA, and state environmental regulations. Strong analytical and technical writing skills. Ability to interpret environmental data and regulatory requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental data management tools. Preferred Requirements Experience in nuclear fuel cycle operations, radiological environmental monitoring, or effluent control systems. Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one. Certifications such as CHMM, QEP, or NRRPT. Experience with environmental modeling tools (e.g., CAP88, RESRAD, AERMOD). Familiarity withISO 14001
