Job Description

Job Summary Pacific West Industries is seeking a motivated and organized Field Supervisor / Project Engineer to oversee commercial HVAC mechanical projects throughout Southern California. This role will primarily support HVAC installation projects including ductwork, equipment replacements, tenant improvements, retrofits, and mechanical construction activities. The ideal candidate has strong field leadership experience in commercial HVAC installation, understands project coordination and manpower management, and can effectively lead crews while maintaining quality, safety, scheduling, and profitability goals. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Oversee field operations across multiple commercial HVAC mechanical projects Coordinate scheduling and manpower for field crews, installers, and foremen Perform project hand-off and kickoff meetings with field foremen Coordinate and oversee HVAC equipment replacements, ductwork installations, tenant improvements, retrofits, and related mechanical work Order materials and coordinate deliveries, pickups, rentals, and equipment logistics Monitor project budgets, labor hours, productivity, and ongoing costs to support profitability Attend job walks for new and potential projects Create and send proposals for HVAC replacements, upgrades, repairs, and change orders Coordinate with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, and vendors throughout project lifecycle Track project progress and provide regular updates to management Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and change conditions proactively Ensure quality control and completion of work in accordance with project specifications, code requirements, and company standards Implement company safety plans for field crews and ensure adherence to all safety procedures and jobsite requirements Attend weekly management meetings at the office Schedule and conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with field technicians and installers Mentor, support, and develop field technicians, installers, foremen, and apprentices Manage apprentice utilization to support project staffing needs and apprenticeship compliance requirements Coordinate apprentice schedules, assignments, and workforce planning Serve as primary point of contact for apprentices in the field Communicate apprentice dispatch needs, transfers, and releases to the Labor Compliance department in a timely manner Complete apprentice evaluations, performance feedback, and required apprenticeship documentation Ensure proper apprentice-to-journeyman ratios are maintained on applicable projects Maintain proactive communication between field crews, project management, and Labor Compliance Assist with project closeout including punch lists, startup coordination, turnover documentation, and final customer sign-off Review and approve project-related documentation including technician timecards and material usage Enforce company policies, performance expectations, and professional conduct standards in the field Qualifications 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC mechanical construction or field supervision Strong knowledge of HVAC installation practices, ductwork systems, equipment change-outs, and mechanical construction Experience managing multiple active projects and field crews simultaneously Ability to read mechanical plans, specifications, and project documents Familiarity with public works projects, prevailing wage, and apprenticeship requirements preferred Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software Valid California Driver License with acceptable driving record Team-oriented and supportive work environment Ability to pass background check required Benefits Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance EAP Flexible Spending Account Health Savings Account Paid Vacation Paid Holidays Paid Sick Time 401k with Company Match Company Provided Tools Company Vehicle Company Gas Card Pacific West Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
