Job Description
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the repair operation and maintenance of the facilities and equipment under the direction of the
Chief Engineer:
Display basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, pneumatic and direct digital control systems, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general building maintenance. Perform troubleshooting, basic repair, and maintenance on all types of equipment such asHVAC, DDC
controls, plumbing, electrical equipment including light fixtures, electrical breakers, switches, outlets, power cords, and other center items. Repair or replace defective seating, doors and door hardware, locks, restroom fixtures and equipment, floors, walls, tile, chair carts, risers, etc. Perform general building maintenance and repair, including plumbing, electrical, and minor carpentry and painting. Program HVAC equipment schedules and temperature set-points using the energy management control system. Respond and attend to service requests. Communicate with building occupants to resolve maintenance issues. Perform mechanical equipment preventive maintenance that includes water treatment, filter replacement, motor and bearing lubrication, fan belt adjustment and replacement, equipment inspections, etc. Display basic computer skills including communicating via e-mail and managing daily service requests utilizing the computerized maintenance management system. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidaysEducation/Training:
Associate's degree or certificate of completion in HVAC program from an accredited college or technical schoolCertifications:
EPA 608 universal refrigerant certificationWork Experience:
1-2 years progressive experience in building engineering Experience in the operation and maintenance of large tonnage commercial HVAC chilled water cooling systems, cooling towers, low pressure steam and hot water boilers Experience with building energy management control systemKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance. Move up and down stairs, service ramps, hydraulic lifts, and/or ladders. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing. An understanding or fluency in Spanish is a plus Ability to perform basic math calculations Attention to detail and accuracy for quality of work Ability to work withMS Word, Excel, and Outlook Job Type:
