About the
Role:
As our Engineer II (General) , you will perform a broad range of maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance duties throughout M Social Sunnyvale. You will help maintain guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, equipment, and building systems while responding to guest and operational maintenance needs. This role is ideal for a skilled, hands-on maintenance professional with experience across multiple areas of hotel engineering and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and exceptional guest service. Your Impact
  • Property & Guest Experience You will play an important role in maintaining the comfort, safety, and functionality of the hotel.
By responding quickly to maintenance needs, completing preventive maintenance, and identifying potential issues before they become larger problems, you will help create a seamless experience for guests and employees. What You'll Be Doing General Engineering & Maintenance Perform routine and corrective maintenance throughout the hotel Respond promptly to guest room, public area, and back-of-house maintenance requests Complete assigned work orders accurately and efficiently Inspect equipment, fixtures, and building areas for maintenance concerns Perform repairs and adjustments within the scope of training and qualifications Maintain tools, equipment, and engineering work areas Assist with special maintenance projects and property improvement initiatives Document completed work and communicate unresolved issues to Engineering leadership HVAC & Mechanical Systems Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of HVAC systems and equipment Respond to guest room and public area temperature concerns Assist with preventive maintenance of air-conditioning, heating, ventilation, pumps, motors, and related equipment Monitor equipment for unusual sounds, temperatures, leaks, or performance issues Escalate complex HVAC or mechanical issues when additional expertise is required Electrical Systems Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs within the scope of training and qualifications Inspect lighting, outlets, switches, fixtures, breakers, and related equipment Replace lamps, switches, fixtures, and other components as appropriate Respond to electrical maintenance requests throughout the property Follow proper electrical safety procedures at all times Escalate complex electrical issues to qualified personnel or management Plumbing Systems Perform routine plumbing maintenance and repairs Respond to clogged drains, leaks, running toilets, faucets, valves, and other plumbing concerns Inspect plumbing fixtures and identify potential issues Assist with preventive maintenance of water and plumbing systems Respond quickly to water-related emergencies to minimize property damage Preventive Maintenance Complete scheduled preventive maintenance according to department procedures Inspect guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems Identify potential maintenance issues before they become major problems Maintain accurate records of inspections and preventive maintenance Communicate recurring equipment problems to Engineering leadership Assist with maintaining the hotel's preventive maintenance program Guest Experience Respond to guest maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner Communicate courteously with guests while performing maintenance work Minimize disruption to guests and hotel operations Follow up on guest-related maintenance concerns when appropriate Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude throughout the property Protect guest belongings and hotel property while performing repairs Team Collaboration Work closely with Engineering Supervisors, Managers, and other Engineering team members Communicate effectively with Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and other departments Assist other engineers with larger or more complex maintenance projects Share technical knowledge and support less-experienced team members Communicate equipment failures, safety concerns, and operational issues promptly Support the Engineering team during emergencies and high-priority situations Safety & Compliance Follow all hotel safety policies and procedures Follow applicable OSHA, fire, life-safety, and building requirements Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Follow safe procedures when working with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems Maintain clean and safe work areas Report hazardous conditions, accidents, equipment failures, and other concerns immediately Follow proper procedures for the use, storage, and maintenance of tools and equipment Requirements Previous experience in hotel engineering, facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related field Working knowledge of multiple building systems and general maintenance Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Ability to perform routine repairs and preventive maintenance Strong attention to detail Good communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Professional and service-oriented attitude Ability to respond effectively to emergency maintenance situations Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts Technical / Role-Specific Requirements Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering, hotel maintenance, facilities, or skilled trade experience preferred Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems Ability to safely use hand and power tools Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices Ability to read and follow equipment manuals and technical instructions Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or electronic work-order systems preferred Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment within the scope of training and qualifications Knowledge of basic workplace safety practices Preferred Qualifications Previous hotel Engineering or Facilities experience preferred Experience working with guest rooms and hotel building systems HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other trade certification is a plus
EPA/HVAC
