Maintenance Engineer Our client, a diverse farming and fresh produce business are seeking a self-motivated and experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer to join their Engineering team at their food manufacturing site in Brandon, Suffolk. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and fault-finding across a diverse range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated production equipment. Working with a variety of machinery and control systems, you will help maximise plant reliability, drive continuous improvement, and support the delivery of high-quality products. About the Role 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Rotating shift pattern: Week 1 - 6:00 am-2:30 pm | Week 2 - 2:00 pm-10:30 pm One weekend every four weeks (Saturday or Sunday) 31 days annual leave, including bank holidays Key Responsibilities Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and implement effective solutions. Performing routine maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment. Respond promptly to breakdowns and carry out fault finding and repairs. Monitoring and optimising production processes to maximise efficiency. Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance. Supporting the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. Carrying out other ad hoc engineering and maintenance duties as required. Essential Requirements Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering). Experience with PLC systems and automation. Strong knowledge of maintenance and fault-finding for mechanical, electrical, and control systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and manuals. Proactive and solution-focused approach. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. High attention to detail. Flexibility to work rotating shifts and participate in the weekend rota. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly. Knowledge of health and safety practices. Desirable Requirements BS7671 Latest edition of wiring regulations. Experience within a manufacturing or food production environment. Experience with automated or packaging machinery. Experience with PLC systems and automation.
