Centerville, Indiana, United States Talascend is currently seeking a Chief Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Centerville, Indiana. Overview The Chief Engineer is responsible for the operational management and effective daily leadership of the engineering team, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of building systems. The role involves overseeing mechanical systems such as HVAC, chillers, boilers, and ensuring maximum uptime while maintaining regulatory compliance and safety standards. Responsibilities Monitor and maintain building mechanical and electrical equipment, including HVAC, boilers, pumps, valves, and piping; perform preventive tasks and oversee repairs.
Manage inventory of tools and supplies; prepare purchase requests and supervise contractor activities within the building.
Identify safety hazards, implement safety programs, and ensure compliance with regulatory laws; maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation.
Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff, including hiring, training, and personal development.
Provide training and support to expand the capabilities of operations staff, emphasizing safety and professionalism.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support building operations and maintenance. Qualifications Associate Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience.
7+ years of relevant facility-related work experience, including customer service, leadership, and supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge of maintenance processes, construction planning, HVAC, fluid handling, mechanical and electrical systems.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven customer service abilities.
Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs (or within 90 days of employment) or equivalent certification.
Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent. We thank all applicants for their interest.
