Job Description

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is a leading nonprofit organization that has a strong commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. About the Role As the Assistant Facility Engineer, you'll support day-to-day facility operations, preventive maintenance programs, and housekeeping services at the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase. You'll work closely with branch leadership and the Facility Engineer to help ensure our YMCA facilities remain clean, safe, efficient, and member-ready at all times.

What You'll Do:
In this role, you will: Support housekeeping and maintenance teams in maintaining exceptional facility standards Assist with preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment and facility life Respond to maintenance requests, work orders, repairs, and facility needs in a timely manner Assist with inspections and help ensure compliance with safety, health, and regulatory standards Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of facility systems and equipment Support the monitoring of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other building systems Assist with inventory, supplies, equipment, and maintaining organized maintenance areas Help coordinate vendors, contractors, and service providers as needed Support branch leadership with special events, programs, facility needs, and upgrades Help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for members, staff, and program participants Assist with training and supporting maintenance and housekeeping staff as needed Respond to facility emergencies and urgent maintenance needs as required
