On-site manufacturing facility Position Overview We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Industrial Maintenance Engineer / Manufacturing Equipment Technician to support our manufacturing operation one day per week . The primary objective of this role is to improve equipment reliability, perform preventive maintenance, and provide structured troubleshooting when equipment is not operating correctly. We need someone who can walk onto the production floor, assess a machine issue, and systematically determine whether the problem is related to steam, hydraulics, electrical/controls, mechanical components, or machine operation . This is a hands-on role rather than a design or office engineering position. Responsibilities Troubleshoot production equipment and identify the root cause of machine failures or performance issues. Diagnose and repair mechanical systems , including pumps, valves, bearings, actuators, pneumatic components, alignment issues, and related equipment. Troubleshoot hydraulic systems , particularly hydraulic presses, cylinders, pumps, valves, pressure issues, and leaks. Inspect and troubleshoot steam systems , including steam distribution, pressure regulators, steam traps, condensate return systems, valves, and heat exchangers. Diagnose basic industrial electrical and control systems , including sensors, relays, switches, solenoids, motors, PLC inputs/outputs, and control signals. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and equipment inspections . Identify developing problems before they result in equipment downtime. Maintain a simple maintenance log documenting issues, repairs, recurring failures, and recommended actions. Help establish a preventive maintenance schedule for key equipment. Recommend and help maintain an appropriate inventory of critical spare parts . Coordinate with outside electricians, plumbers, boiler/steam specialists, machine manufacturers, or other contractors when specialized work is required. Help determine whether recurring failures are related to the machine itself, utilities, maintenance, or operator practices. Provide practical recommendations to improve equipment reliability and reduce production downtime . Ideal Experience We are looking for someone with broad industrial maintenance experience rather than a specialist in only one area. Strong experience with several of the following is preferred: Industrial manufacturing equipment Hydraulic presses and hydraulic systems Pneumatic systems Pumps, valves, bearings and actuators Steam and condensate systems Boilers and steam distribution Industrial electrical troubleshooting Sensors, relays and solenoids PLC/I/O troubleshooting Preventive maintenance programs Root-cause analysis and equipment troubleshooting PLC programming experience is not required. The person should, however, be comfortable troubleshooting controls and determining whether a problem is mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or control-related. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Has significant hands-on industrial maintenance experience. Is comfortable working independently. Approaches troubleshooting systematically rather than replacing parts by trial and error . Can work directly with machine operators to understand problems. Can clearly explain what failed, why it failed, and what should be done to prevent it from happening again. Is comfortable working around industrial machinery, steam, hydraulics, and manufacturing utilities. Can prioritize maintenance work based on safety, production impact, and likelihood of failure. Schedule This position is intended for one full day per week , preferably on a consistent day, with some flexibility based on production and maintenance needs. The goal is for that day to include a combination of: Preventive maintenance + equipment inspections + troubleshooting + follow-up on recurring problems + planning upcoming repairs. Occasional additional hours may be available by mutual agreement when there is a major repair, installation, or equipment issue.
