Job Description
Job Summary The Engineering Supervisor ensures the proper functioning of all hotel systems and equipment while leading and mentoring the engineering team. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to maintain building operations, motivate team members, and deliver exceptional guest service. The position requires advanced knowledge of building systems and the ability to manage complex maintenance tasks efficiently.
Fundamental Requirements:
Respond promptly to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues effectively. Conduct daily inspections of the property to identify safety hazards, broken equipment, and areas needing repair or renovation. Install, inspect, maintain, and repair appliances, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, plumbing, mechanical equipment, and pool heaters. Diagnose and troubleshoot Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, boilers, pumps, and related components. Maintain and repair equipment in laundry, kitchen, guestrooms, convention areas, and public spaces. Demonstrate professional-level expertise in at least three technical areas (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical systems) and basic skills in others. Operate and maintain building automation systems and engineering computer programs for preventive maintenance and energy management. Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds. Train and mentor other engineers to ensure team development and operational excellence. Ensure safe operation and storage of tools and equipment. Perform additional duties as assigned to support hotel operationsGeneral Requirements:
Strong knowledge of safety and security policies and procedures. Ability to follow Hazardous Material Management Program and Lockout/Tag-out procedures. Skilled in using proper equipment and wearing appropriate PPE. Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics. Professional demeanor, integrity, and reliability. Strong communication and leadership skills to train and mentor team members. Compliance with all state and federal certification/licensing requirements.Education & Experience:
Post-secondary certificate in a relevant trade (e.g., Construction, Mechanics, Precision Production). HVAC and PCA Certification preferred. Minimum of 2 years of building maintenance experience. Hotel experience is a plus. Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.Physical Requirements:
Ability to move, lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance; assist with objects over 100 lbs. Ability to move up and down stairs, service ramps, and ladders. Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Must be able to work in physically demanding environments and adapt to varying conditions. In accordance with New Jersey State Legislature (New Jersey Legislature Bill S2310 Sca (1R)) which requires private employers with ten (10) or more employees to include a range of pay for all advertised jobs, promotion, or transfer opportunities.
