Job Description

Plumbing Designer  We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Designer to prepare construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications for a variety of commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential projects. This role involves working on multiple projects simultaneously, starting from drafting and progressing through design cycles to completion. The successful candidate will assist in the development of design approaches and concepts, collect data or conduct field verification, research relevant codes, and select equipment to fit the project design. Responsibilities Prepare detailed plumbing layouts in AutoCAD and Revit, adhering to applicable codes and standards, with a primary focus on AutoCAD. Produce plumbing fixture schedules and riser diagrams. Create project-based plumbing drawings and specifications with accuracy, neatness, and timeliness before project deadlines. Communicate effectively with team members, team leaders, other disciplines, and outside vendors to gather necessary information for drawings. Assist with on-site observations during construction and coordinate design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers under the guidance of the design manager. Create and review permit, construction, and shop drawings. Interface with field personnel during construction to resolve any field variance discrepancies. Essential Skills Experience in plumbing design, mechanical construction, or related field. Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP design software. General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge of plumbing systems including sanitary and storm drainage, sanitary venting, domestic water systems, gaseous fuel piping, medical gas, and process piping. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of building codes, engineering theories, and methodologies. Direct plumbing experience or hands-on field experience is advantageous. Revit MEP design software proficiency is preferred. Work Environment This role primarily operates in an office setting, with occasional field visits. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $40.86/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
