Job Description

Stark State College is seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time instructor to join our HVAC Technology Department to teach courses within the Ohio Department of Youth Services Juvenile Correctional facilities located at the Indian River (Massillon) location. The successful candidate will contribute to the college's commitment to academic excellence, student success, and community engagement.

Typical Responsibilities Include:
Plan, prepare, deliver lectures, and hands-on sessions in: Refrigeration Cooling and Air Conditioning Heating systems and pumps Air distribution Hydronics Installation Safety Materials, estimation, tools, and equipment Communication Leadership and teamwork Problem-solving and critical thinking Develop instructional materials and assessments that align with program outcomes. Evaluate student work and provide constructive feedback to support learning and skill development. Maintain, troubleshoot, and supervise the use of lab and classroom equipment. Stay current with advancements in technology and industry trends to ensure course relevance. Participate in curriculum development and program improvement initiatives. Support student success through advising, mentoring, and career guidance.
Required Qualifications Include:
High School Diploma/Degree 5 years of trade/apprenticeship experience EPA608 certification HVAC or related journeyman and/or Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HVAC/R or related field. Must have knowledge/skills of tools, materials, and test equipment (performance, equipment readings, etc.), maintenance, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration HVAC control systems. Skills in reading and understanding schematics of electrical outlets and circuits . Strong leadership and/or classroom experience, communication, organizational skills, and safety practices.
