Job Title:
Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer (3rd Shift) Job Description This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing and packaging machinery, addressing both mechanical and electrical issues to ensure reliable plant operations. You will work primarily with 480V systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and electrical controls, including PLCs, on a consistent 3rd shift schedule operating 4 10 hour shifts from Wednesday to Saturday. Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on manufacturing and packaging equipment to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production. Work safely and confidently with 480V electrical systems while adhering to established safety procedures and standards. Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure reliable and efficient equipment performance. Perform troubleshooting and programming of electrical controls and PLCs to resolve control system issues and improve machine reliability. Conduct routine preventive maintenance on plant machinery to reduce unexpected equipment failures. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage to support accurate maintenance records and planning. Collaborate with production and operations teams to identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to equipment performance. Support packaging equipment maintenance, including adjustments, repairs, and optimization to meet production needs. Respond promptly to maintenance requests during the 3rd shift and prioritize tasks to support production schedules. Follow all plant safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and best practices when working on electrical and mechanical equipment. Essential Skills Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on manufacturing or industrial machinery. Ability to work safely with 480V electrical systems in an industrial environment. Hands-on experience working with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair. Hands-on experience working with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair. Strong skills in electrical controls troubleshooting and PLC programming. Experience performing maintenance on packaging equipment or similar automated machinery. Ability to work independently on 3rd shift (7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Wednesday through Saturday). Solid understanding of industrial safety practices, including lockout/tagout procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in the packaging industry, which is considered a significant advantage and helps distinguish top candidates. Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or plant maintenance environments. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly identify root causes of equipment issues. Effective communication skills to coordinate with production and other maintenance team members. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to industrial machinery, packaging lines, and related equipment. The role operates on a 3rd shift schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Wednesday through Saturday, and includes a shift differential for working these hours. You will frequently work around 480V electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and PLC-controlled machinery, following strict safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices. The work involves being on the production floor, moving between machines, and handling tools and diagnostic equipment in an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hamilton, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $45.00/hr.
