Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and supporting mechanical system designs for commercial buildings, including load calculations, equipment selection and ductwork/piping layouts.
Produce and review mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications using AutoCAD/Revit and BIM workflows; ensure coordination across disciplines to avoid clashes.
Perform engineering calculations (heating/cooling loads, ventilation rates, pressure drops) and prepare cost estimates and equipment schedules.
Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA, local building codes) and incorporate energy-efficiency and sustainability best practices.
Provide construction support including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, and resolving field coordination issues.
Oversee commissioning and functional testing of
Coordinate with clients, architects, general contractors and specialty contractors to maintain project schedules, budgets and quality standards.
Develop and maintain project documentation, drawings, as-built records and O&M manuals.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians, and contribute to continuous improvement of MEP design and delivery processes.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field; masters degree or relevant certifications a plus.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent preferred.5+ years of progressive experience designing and delivering commercial
Strong knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems and their integration in commercial buildings.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), load calculation software and Microsoft Office; experience with construction management software is a plus.
Familiarity with building codes and standards (ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA) and sustainable design practices.
Proven experience in construction-phase support, commissioning and field coordination.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills; ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Experience in commercial construction environments and understanding of contractor workflows, scheduling and cost control.
