Job Summary:
SMSI, LLC
is seeking an HVAC Engineer to support clients in Oak Ridge, TN. The purpose of this position is to have oversight of A/Es of HVAC design of large EPC projects, and act as a representative to the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This position could also result in performing HVAC design activities for various systems/areas in addition to A/E oversight. The candidate shall be able to apply advanced engineering techniques to a broad set of complex assignments The work will be performed in Oak Ridge, TN and require working onsite for 2-3 days per week and working remotely the other 2-3 days per week.
Responsibilities:
Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including workforce forecasts. Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecast. Develop and review specifications, including design criteria. Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting. Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexity. Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 6-10 years of progressive experience in HVAC design and engineering. Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors. Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines. Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner. Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials. Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting. Managing and leading a large project. Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out. Practical field experience. Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs. Ability to obtain and maintain Q clearance. Candidate must be a US Citizen. Candidate must be able to work onsite in Oak Ridge, TN 2-3 days per week and remotely the other 2-3 days per week. Active (or recently inactive) DOE Q clearance preferred but not required.
Preferred Experience:
Professional registration and membership in technical society (preferred) Previous DoE Experience on large EPC projects.
Educational Requirements:
