Full Job Description Senior Utilities Reliability Engineer Location:
Newport News, Virginia Compensation:
$95,000 to $117,000 per year, plus bonus Our food manufacturing facility is seeking a Senior Utilities Reliability Engineer to manage and optimize utility systems across our operations, with a primary focus on industrial refrigeration, boiler, and compressed air systems. This role owns the design, development, operation, and continuous improvement of these systems, working closely with facilities and project engineering teams to keep production running safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Schedule:
Full-time, on-site, with travel to other facility locations required approximately 50% of the time.
Compensation:
$95,000 to $117,000 per year, plus bonus. What You'll Do This engineer works directly with facilities and project engineering teams to develop Capital Infrastructure Plans, engaging outside refrigeration engineering resources during project design and development as needed. The role supports the facility's PSM Management Team on compliance related issues and assists in developing system designs, including equipment selection, quote gathering, and work scheduling. Day to day, this person develops and implements solutions to facility refrigeration system issues, standardizes equipment requirements across new system implementations, and supports the planning and budgeting process for utilities engineering improvement projects to keep them on time and within scope. The role also involves optimizing utility systems to match facility operating requirements, researching and testing new technology, and assessing complex operations to support Operations management. A core part of the job is identifying and correcting deficiencies in existing systems through load, charge, and relief calculations, and leading multiple concurrent projects across different functional areas while ensuring adherence to proper protocols. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university in Engineering or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in operations, maintenance, and optimization of ammonia refrigeration systems (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

(Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) certification, ANSI/IIAR2 certification, Garden City Program Operator II certification, or an equivalent nationally recognized ammonia refrigeration training certification Strong theoretical understanding of industrial refrigeration systems, with the ability to apply that knowledge directly to daily responsibilities Strong reading, math, writing, and analytical skills Ability to perform assigned tasks efficiently with minimal supervision Willingness to travel to other locations approximately 50% of the time Preferred Qualifications Experience troubleshooting low and high voltage electrical circuits, motors, and controls Wastewater operations experience Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams Compensation and Benefits $95,000 to $117,000 per year, plus bonus Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) Paid time off To apply, submit your resume for consideration.
