Job Description
Engineering Technician Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of advanced mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems in a high-tech manufacturing environment. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and production standards while contributing to process optimization and product development initiatives. Key Responsibilities Assemble, integrate, and test complex mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems according to engineering specifications and manufacturing procedures. Perform inspections, diagnostics, and functional testing to verify product quality and performance. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues using technical documentation, schematics, and diagnostic equipment. Identify recurring production or product issues and collaborate with engineering teams to implement corrective actions. Support process improvements focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and manufacturing excellence. Maintain accurate production records, test results, and manufacturing documentation. Participate in new product introduction activities and assist with scaling manufacturing processes from development to production. Review and provide feedback on work instructions, technical procedures, and manufacturing documentation. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications. Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety procedures, and established manufacturing practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and improve operational performance. Assist in evaluating process changes and new procedures prior to implementation. Share technical knowledge and support the training and development of team members. Monitor workflow and production priorities to meet established schedules and deliverables. Maintain proper use and care of tools, equipment, and materials. Required Qualifications Experience assembling and testing mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical systems. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation. Experience using hand tools, precision instruments, and testing equipment. Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and basic electronics diagnostics. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Comfortable working in a structured manufacturing or laboratory environment. Basic computer skills for documentation, data entry, and production systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Preferred Qualifications Associates degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent experience in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or a related field. Experience supporting engineering development, manufacturing, or quality improvement initiatives. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts such as 5S, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, or Value Stream Mapping. Experience working in highly regulated, precision manufacturing, aerospace, medical device, electronics, or advanced technology environments. Knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies. Experience with prototype, pre-production, or new product introduction activities. Work Environment High-tech manufacturing environment involving precision mechanical and electrical assemblies. Work may be performed in controlled production, laboratory, or clean manufacturing areas depending on project requirements. Requires standing, walking, lifting components, and working with specialized tools and testing equipment. Strong emphasis on quality, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
