Kustom Signals is seeking an Engineering Technician to support our engineering team in developing, testing, and validating advanced video technology used by law enforcement agencies across the country. This role offers a great opportunity for a technically curious professional who enjoys solving problems, working with modern systems, and contributing to products that help keep communities safe. In this role, you will work closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to configure systems, perform testing, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the reliability and performance of our video solutions. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, analytical thinking, and a desire to grow into broader engineering responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Configure and validate video recording devices and backend management systems used in public safety environments. Deploy, test, and troubleshoot products and systems operating in Windows and Linux environments. Support network configuration and connectivity troubleshooting in both lab and field environments. Assist in diagnosing system-level issues involving hardware, firmware, software, and supporting infrastructure. Perform functional, regression, performance, environmental, and integration testing to ensure product quality and reliability. Analyze system logs, performance metrics, and captured data to identify defects and potential improvements. Document testing results, troubleshooting procedures, and validation reports to support engineering and product development. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to validate new features, releases, and system integrations. Support prototype configuration, system bring-up, and early-stage product validation. Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action efforts to resolve technical issues. Utilize project management and documentation tools such as the Atlassian suite or similar platforms. Perform other duties as assigned by engineering leadership. Work Environment This position is primarily based in an office and engineering lab environment. Occasional travel to customer locations or field test sites may be required. A people-first culture grounded in teamwork, accountability, and innovation Skills Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, and subnetting. Experience configuring and troubleshooting wired and wireless networks. Familiarity with VPN connectivity and remote access configurations is preferred. Proficiency working within Windows desktop and server environments. Working knowledge of Linux systems, including command line navigation, log review, and service management, is preferred. Strong analytical thinking and structured troubleshooting abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to understand and execute instructions provided in written or verbal form. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and system architecture diagrams. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Experience handling prototype circuit boards and performing soldering or de-soldering is a plus. Qualifications Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of experience in a technical role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in lab, production, or system integration environments is preferred.
