Job Description

Engineering Technician monitors and documents construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities. The role involves field inspections, laboratory testing, quality assurance, and reporting to project managers, with extensive travel and overtime. Candidates must adhere to strict safety standards and possess relevant construction or environmental experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and document construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities, including field inspection and testing of soils and geosynthetic liners. Supervise and complete construction quality assurance and control activities across multiple states, including landfill components and environmental control systems. Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. Communicate construction site status, project requirements, and testing results with project managers, engineers, client representatives, and contractors. Transport material samples and documentation to laboratories for further testing and analysis. Tabulate, prepare, and submit daily written and digital reports to the project manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure operational readiness. Adhere to strict safety standards and report any safety concerns to management. Assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties under supervision. Provide clear documentation of findings and results, and discuss data accuracy prior to submittal. Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the project manager. Plan pre-task activities before executing work.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. At least 6 months of relevant experience in construction quality assurance (CQA) and/or field-based positions. Experience in landfill, solid waste, or gas industry, or construction quality/documentation, or running field tests. Good communication, writing, and organization skills. Ability to use basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office. Willingness to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Valid driver's license with ability to pass a motor vehicle review (MVR).
