We are a certified Small Minority owned and operated business with decades of experience in the oil, gas, water, wastewater, and utility industries. Our specialty is providing comprehensive support to the industries in the fields of corrosion, integrity management, Right-of-Way support, locate and mark, and staff augmentation. Legion is seeking a Lead Cathodic Protection Technician to be based out of our San Ramon, CA office (remote work is possible) to complement our Corrosion Engineering and Integrity Management Team. If you are looking to excel your technical knowledge and leadership skills in the corrosion and cathodic protection business, this will be a great job for you! Work experience in cathodic protection, coating inspection, pipeline inspection, mechanic, etc. is required - compensation will be considered based on experience.
Job Description:
Be responsible for cathodic protection data collection such as annual surveys, close-interval-survey, direct current and alternating current voltage gradient surveys, and other corrosion and cathodic protection tests; perform data analyses and make recommendations for client pipelines and facilities; oversight of field inspection teams of technicians and construction crew members; create technical reports, and interact with customers, with minimum supervision of principal engineers. Primary relevant experience includes verifiable technical and supervisory experience in oil/gas and water industries.
  • Test and assess cathodic protection systems
  • Gather field data including but not limited to structure-to-soil potentials, soil resistivity, continuity, rectifier output, anode output, etc.
  • Lead CIS, DCVG, ACVG, PCM and other indirect pipeline inspections
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair cathodic protection rectifiers
  • Assess issues and problems in the field and respond accordingly under the direction of senior engineers and/or supervisor
  • Organize field date and prepare cathodic protection survey reports
  • Lead and supervise entry level technician and support construction team
  • Make preliminary repair and maintenance recommendations per field observations
  • Maintain client relationships with the goal of meeting customer expectations
  • Work in compliance with technical, safety and compliance procedures and guidelines
Basic Qualifications:
  • High-school diploma or greater
  • Minimum 5-year experience in cathodic protection or corrosion engineering
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain Operator Qualification (OQ) standards.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks efficiently and effectively under time constraints.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to drive off-road or a willingness to learn.
  • Some work will be in the field and remote wilderness locations.
  • You may be frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, reach, climb and bend.
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a "Fit for Duty" physical and drug screening.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Licenses/Certificates Valid Driver's license (required) NACE Cathodic Protection tester (CP-3) or higher This is a DOT regulated position and successful applicants must be eligible to work in the US and be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.
