Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS). Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. For over 60 years we have maintained "A Tradition of Excellence", serving as a trusted source for our unwavering commitment to supporting all branches of the Department of Defense and our global allies. Our collaboration extends across a diverse array of programs and platforms, including major military prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position requires a strong background in Electrical Engineering/Design/Analysis with an emphasis on high reliability electronic hardware development (military avionics) including standard bus interface, power switching for solenoids and motor drives, and analog inputs and conversion circuits. The ideal candidate will have experience in the design, analysis, build, and testing embedded control modules that may include application-specific firmware implemented in FPGAs and/or microprocessors to control various discrete switches, sensors as well as driving solenoids and AC, DC motors. The candidate should have a broad background emphasizing work with embedded controllers for electro-mechanical devices and subsystems, preferably for use in military or commercial aviation. Knowledge of airborne weapon systems and /or weapon carriage equipment is strongly desirable. Specialist knowledge regarding schematic and board layout design using industry standard CAD tools such as Altium, Xpedition, etc. will be a strong differentiator for candidate selection. bus interface, and power standard is highly desirable. The candidate must be flexible and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment as a member of a cross functional team and as an individual contributor. A successful candidate will be able to show evidence of their capability to excel in performance tasks as an individual contributor/specialist with a minimum of oversight, and to function well as a member of a cross-functional team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Decompose system requirements to electronic subsystem requirements via implementable design trades and analysis
  • Define conceptual design architecture, generate functional/structural block diagrams, and I/O definitions for embedded electronics for Line Replacement Units (LRU)
  • Design and develop high reliability circuits on multi-layered Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) for the ECU and other embedded modules
  • Perform schematic design capture, component selections and generate BOMs
  • Simulate and analyze board circuits using simulation tools
  • LTSpice, Qspice, etc.
  • Perform PCB design layout and generate DFM package for fabrication
  • Oversee HW assembly and generate Assembly Instructions as needed for initial and rework of the hardware
  • Define test requirements (V&V) and perform board level Verification and Validation testing
  • Perform CCA level design verification testing and deliver to the next level integration with all required test documentation
  • Generate documentation for design and test including design specifications, test plan/procedures/reports, L4/5 V&V
  • Support various programmatic and technical reviews
  • Requirements Review, Concept Review, PDR, CDR, Manufacturing Readiness Review, TRR.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet specifications and are manufacturable
  • Review and troubleshoot printed circuit board (PCB) designs
  • Analyze designs and optimize them for manufacturing
  • SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

  • -Minimum BSEE and a minimum of 8 years' experience in relevant design/analysis/development environment, preferably for military or commercial aviation.
  • The candidate should have knowledge of end-to-end development
  • design, build, and test process for high reliability (flight) electronics hardware with emphasis in embedded application for complex electromechanical systems, or large structures
  • Must be able to design and develop multi-layer printed circuit boards for electronic devices and systems
  • Experience in designing FPGAs, microcontrollers, and military systems
  • Proficiency in Embedded C development
