This position requires that you live within commuting distance of our Milpitas, CA office and commute to the lab 5 days per week. The Cisco Service Provider Routing Hardware Engineering team develops next-generation hardware by adhering to IEEE standards and industry best practices. Our engineers drive innovation across the full product lifecycle, serving as IP architects, creators, and solution integrators who manage products from concept to production. The team specializes in key technical domains, including system and board design, PCB layout, hardware automation, validation, signal integrity, and power design. By partnering cross-functionally with system designers, diagnostics and customer escalation engineers, and external vendors, the team ensures robust test methodologies, timely issue mitigation, and high product quality. Ultimately, they advance the state of the art through IP development and research, consistently challenging industry norms to optimize cost, performance, and reliability for next-generation solutions. Your Impact Own design and validation of a server sub-system. Ensure design meets functional specs. Participate as a valuable team member to deliver quality products on time. Participate in cross-functional meetings and teams. Participate in creating functional specifications and technical documentation. Work with and manage JDMs for server product development. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 4+ years of experience, or Master's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 2+ years of related experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 0+ years of related experience. Experience with highspeed hardware board designs and validation. Experience with taking board designs from concept through production including schematics generation, layouts and troubleshooting. Experience in hardware validation using lab equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, and Spectrum Analyzers. Hands on board design knowledge, including design tools such as Cadence Concept and Allegro. Preferred Qualifications Experience with networking products design. Experience creating test scripts in Python. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Why Cisco?
