APPLE INC
has the following available in San Diego, California. Design BMU from concept to mass production focusing on detailed board level design. Push the boundaries of technologies to maximize performance and minimize volume. Collaborate with multi-functional partners (Product Design, System EE, Cell Engineering, Firmware, Algorithms, etc.) to ensure the product is developed on time and on budget. Conduct investigations and prepare reports for problems or issues. Develop Schematics and BOMs to satisfy the design requirements. Develop layout guidelines for PCBs and guides Layout Engineers to meet all physical and electrical requirements of BMU. Specify custom parts and PCBs for use in BMUs. Analyze the design with simulation tools and calculations to verify its conformance to the requirements. (PSPICE, ANSYS, Verilog or equivalent). Conduct design validation on prototypes to implement the design. Conduct design reviews, incorporate team feedback and release the design documents for builds. Specify production test methods and limits and work with CM partners to realize design. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $163,197 - $207,100/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field and 6 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. 4 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: Designing, simulating and validating, analog front-end circuits for voltage, current, charge and temperature sensing, power electronics including safety protection circuits, FET drivers, DC/DC converters and switching regulators, using SPICE-based simulators (Cadence Spectre, PSpice, LTspice, ANSYS, etc.), mathematical modeling tools (MATLAB) and lab equipment (oscilloscope, SMUs, power analyzer, E-load, thermal camera, etc.) Designing manufacturing-ready schematics, multi-layer mixed-signal PCBs with analog + digital components with Cadence Allegro. Using Power DC/Celsius to check PCB layout performance including signal integrity, DCR, grounding and thermal rise. Defining battery management hardware interactions (MCUs, ADCs, SMBus/I2C) with firmware and develop test SOP and script using embedded tooling (JTAG debugger, U-Link, Aardvark) and programming languages (C/C++) Bringing up and debugging early prototypes using logic/protocol analyzer, DAQ system. Using Lock In Thermography, CT scan/Xray, Focused Ion Beam, etc., to perform failure-mode analysis to identify any short, leakage or crack in the system. Writing scripts to automate electrical testing, log parsing and statistical analysis and build repeatable workflow for design validation and verification using Python, Verilog, Shell scripting, or JMP. Using PLM systems including Agile, Jira, or Confluence to collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to review DFM (Design for manufacturing), validate builds, write engineering specs, resolve and track failures and define component and system specifications. ing presentation and communication skills to use Keynote and Numbers to write clear validation plans, debug reports, design reviews and work effectively with cross-functional teams including product define, reliability, safety and DFM team. Leading projects and taking more than one design from the concept stage to prototype, validation, and production stage while working with fast product cycles.
