Job Description

Senior Ground Systems Operations Engineer ensures the configuration, readiness, and reliability of satellite ground systems and mission operations environments. The role blends technical expertise in command and control software, flight dynamics interfaces, and ground equipment with strong operational judgment and cross‑disciplinary collaboration. The engineer supports mission execution through configuration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of operational practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Configure, operate, and evolve mission control systems, including databases, command and telemetry definitions, limits, displays, and operational configurations. Set up, validate, and troubleshoot ground system environments for simulations, testing, rehearsals, and live operations. Establish consistent configuration practices across missions while balancing mission‑specific needs and operational constraints. Document, support, and align ground system configurations with operational workflows. Troubleshoot system‑level issues spanning command & control software, flight dynamics software, and ground equipment. Develop, test, and maintain operational procedures and procedural scripts (e.g., Tcl, Python). Validate procedures through dry runs, simulations, launch rehearsals, mission rehearsals, and readiness reviews. Translate operational concepts into executable, repeatable procedures and maintain related documentation. Integrate and operate ground equipment, including modems, baseband systems, antennas, and interfaces. Configure and troubleshoot end‑to‑end command and telemetry paths. Resolve hardware‑software interaction issues in collaboration with Ground Systems, IT, and external partners. Communicate clearly and calmly during operational activities and time‑critical troubleshooting, and contribute to continuous improvement of practices, tools, and documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience in satellite ground segment or mission operations environments. Hands‑on experience with command and control software (e.g., Terma CCS or equivalent). Experience developing or maintaining operational procedures, including scripting (Tcl, Python, or similar). Practical understanding of ground equipment interfaces, especially modem and baseband systems. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot across software, configuration, and hardware boundaries. Ability to write clear, high‑quality technical and operational documentation. Strong operational mindset with attention to detail and execution discipline. Excellent communication skills and comfort working across disciplines and cultures. Fluent English required; French is a plus. Willingness to travel as needed for project requirements.
Preferred Skills:
Experience supporting multi‑mission or shared ground infrastructures. Exposure to flight dynamics tools or operational data flows.
