  • Full-time Job description: EMAC, inc, a FRAMOS company, is looking for an Embedded Hardware Design Engineer to add to our team.
EMAC (Equipment Monitor And Control) designs, manufactures, integrates and distributes, Single Board Computers (SBCs), System on Modules (SoMs) & Carrier Boards, Industrial Panel PCs (PPCs), Embedded Servers and Custom Solutions for the Embedded marketplace. Since 1985, EMAC, Inc. has provided Off-The-Shelf and Custom turnkey OEM Embedded products utilizing the latest technologies. We offer a flexible schedule and a competitive benefits package. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We will not be able to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Needed:
Schematic capture and PCB layout. Board level schematic design. Review and revise existing designs. Participate in the entire design process from inception to release of product for production. Support manufacturing department with troubleshooting of any issues. Determination of design criteria and feasibility from a list of customer requirements. Creation of component symbols and footprints. Allocation of new components and management of existing components within our design library. Determining availability of components and life cycle. Estimation of project costs and design timelines. Troubleshooting of both hardware and software issues in a design. Power and functional testing of first article delivered from production line. Determination of critical component parameters and allocating component crosses. Testing of component crosses for an existing design. Documenting changes to existing designs. Development of testing procedures and instructions for new products. Writing simple programs to test new product functionality. Testing of product reliability over stated temperature range. Work with software engineers to test new products and determine software requirements.
Required Knowledge:
Use of standard lab equipment such as power supply, digital volt meter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer and logic analyzer. Ability to read and understand component electrical characteristics from a datasheet. Familiar with standard electronic components and their functionality (ie. logic gate, transistors, passive components). Some knowledge of microcontrollers or other embedded processors.
Useful Knowledge:
(Not Required) Experience with Altium Designer schematic capture and PCB layout. Experience with circuit simulation. Analog and digital simulation and troubleshooting. Experience programming in C, python, bash or any other useful scripting language. Experience with 3D modelling software. Experience with 3D printing or CNC routers. Knowledge or experience in FCC certification process and requirements. Knowledge or experience with any compliance testing. Ability to solder electrical components and prototyping. Knowledge of standard interfaces such as USB, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, DDR, serial ports. Familiar with IPC standards such as
IPC-2221.
Bachelor degree in electrical / computer engineering or related field. At least 5 years of experience.
