Why You'll Love Working Here As a key member of our Hardware team, you will share responsibility for designing, validating, and testing ORBCOMM's industrial IoT devices and sensors. The Hardware team is a multidisciplinary, multi-site organization consisting of electrical design, PCB layout, industrial engineering, and documentation specialists who work closely with our Embedded Systems, Product Integrity, Manufacturing, and Software Engineering teams. You'll contribute throughout the entire product lifecycle-from concept and design through validation, manufacturing, and product support-while helping deliver innovative satellite, cellular, BLE, and LoRa-enabled IoT solutions for customers around the world. This role is based out of our Sterling, VA office and is full-time onsite . Working onsite provides the opportunity to collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, participate in hands-on product development, and support laboratory testing and manufacturing activities. What You'll Do Hardware Design & Development Design and develop satellite, cellular, BLE, and LoRa-enabled industrial IoT products. Select electronic components and develop schematics for new hardware designs. Support PCB layout activities andparticipatein schematic and PCB design reviews. Create andmaintainschematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation within ORBCOMM's product lifecycle management system. Product Validation & Testing Perform functional and parametric testing across industrial operating temperature ranges. Conduct hardware debugging and root cause analysis to resolve design and manufacturing issues. Prepare products for regulatory and industry certifications. Participate in design verification activities and support test automation initiatives. Product Lifecycle Support Support new product introductions by partnering with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams. Provide engineering support for product installations, certification activities, and field deployments. Customize standard hardware platforms to meet customer-specific requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Participate in design reviews and cross-functional engineering discussions. Contribute to engineering best practices, documentation standards, and continuous process improvements. Collaborate with Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, Product Integrity, Manufacturing, and Industrial Design teams throughout the product development lifecycle. Support innovation initiatives that improve ORBCOMM's industrial IoT product portfolio. You have a passion for product development, strong analytical skills, and enjoy working in a hands-on engineering environment.
