BlackSky's real-time intelligence mission is built on advanced space-based systems—and there's real momentum right now in Tukwila, WA to help bring satellite test capability into a fast, repeatable, production-ready cadence. In this Principle Engineer/Spacecraft Test Development opportunity, you'll lead the transition from engineering-driven test approaches to robust, automated qualification and acceptance campaigns that reduce variability and risk while increasing throughput. Qualifications and responsibilities for this Principle Engineer/Spacecraft Test Development position include: 12+ years of experience in spacecraft integration and test, development, or similar hardware test environments (8-9+ years may be considered for Staff-level fit). Own the transition of test campaigns from engineering development to production-ready execution. Architect subsystem and spacecraft-level qualification and acceptance test campaigns across all subsystems. Translate system verification requirements into efficient, executable, and scalable test plans. Lead cross-functional efforts to develop test plans, procedures, scripts, and automation frameworks for repeatable, low-variance execution. Define requirements for and oversee design and build of test Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and supporting test infrastructure. Partner with engineering and production to ensure end-to-end validation from plan through design and execution. Apply scripting/coding for satellite test automation (Python preferred) and support requirements/verification tracking with DOORS or Jama (preferred).
Salary:
$200,000 - $230,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
